Adolescence can be a challenging and overwhelming time. Girls are especially at risk as rates of teen pregnancy, and eating disorders are on the rise. In order to reverse this trend, GENaustin focuses exclusively on strengthening critical thinking skills and emotional well being of all adolescent girls.
GENaustin is a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster healthy self-esteem in girls by engaging them to explore and define their personal values and to build skills that empower them with confidence and courage to make wise choices.
clubGEN is a weekly after-school program that brings together groups of early adolescent girls at their respective school campuses, engaging them in activities throughout the school year that promote self-esteem, resilience, confidence, and leadership. Trained high school girls or adults lead the club and serve as both facilitators and big sisters. Each club selects activities from a curriculum guide of interactive topics ranging from peer relationships, stress, their changing bodies, stereotypes, media messages, and body image. Adult volunteers, drawn from each participating school and the community, serve vital roles as coaches and mentors, helping empower and challenge girls in a unique and high-impact experience.
Just $25 funds one girl to attend three clubGEN meetings. $35 provides the printing cost for one clubGEN curriculum guide. A donation of $100 can sponsor a clubGEN meeting and $200 will sponsor a girl to participate in clubGEN for a whole year. Please donate what you can, and know that your help makes a difference.
